Message and they told me slop was not an issue in either my OEM or my
freshly rebuilt Leader diff....but yes I did upgrade to an X-
series southbend full face clutch, although I dont think it has
anything to do with it. Rather I think it was my inexperience in
doing all the work that is biting me now.

The shudder was present in both diffs, HOWEVER, the Leader
diff mitigated it significantly. I thought this weird, until another
Z club member (who believed it was due to a warped flywheel)
informed me that the 4.10 gearing is easier (places less load)
on the driveline, therefore the clutch doesnt shudder/slip as
much. This makes sense, but it didnt make sense that my
flywheel would be warped since I had no issue with it prior to
the install.

I bought a '91 honda which oddly enough had the exact same
shudder. I asked the local mechanic here about it and without
blinking an eye he said "yeah, I noticed it too, the clutch is
getting some oil on it, likely leaking from the seal behind the
clutch, normal for 20yr old daily driven car"

I of course did not replace my rear main seal while-I-was-in-
there, becuase to my inexperienced eyes it looked perfectly
fine (bone dry), and I didnt want to fuck with something that
wasnt broken and create a leak with the new seal by not
installing it as well as someone with more experience would
install it.

So I left it. Now I have a very loud shudder when trying to pull
slowly from a stop, and when I got the car on the lift
yesterday to swap the tranny mount I definitely have a leak.
But it was too dirty under there for me to be able to say for
sure whether it was motor oil or transmission fluid, though I
feel confident it was motor oil.

I have a rear main seal already from Nissan, so it is just a
matter of installing. If anyone has any other ideas I should
consider, please chime in.

As for the Leader gears. I have them here, got them
"tweaked" after the hellacious whine from the first install (24
miles). The are now without doubt to spec. Once I iron out
the last semblance of driveline vibration, I plan to swap over
to them, drive 1500 miles on the Richmond Gear oil with Amsoil
Slip Lock additive to break them in, then change the fluid and
refill with the same. I hope to have all this done by July when
we go tracking. We'll see how it goes.
